Dubai-based developer Sheffield Holdings has announced its soon-to-be-completed hotel project Marina 101 will be branded Dream Dubai Marina and will be managed in association with Wyndham Hotel Group, the world’s largest hotel provider.

Marina 101, is being developed by Emaar Properties – builder of the world’s tallest building Burj Khalifa – and Sheffield Holdings. When completed and opened in the fourth quarter of 2014, it will be the second tallest building in the emirate.

At a press conference on Sunday, Sheffield Holdings chairman Abu Ali Malik Shroff announced the tower, which will be one of the tallest in Dubai Marina when complete, will be operated by Hampshire Hotels Management, in association with Wyndham Hotel Group, and will be branded the Dream Dubai Marina.

The Dream hotel brand was the brainchild of hotelier Vikram Chatwal and is characterised by its “whimsical public spaces that mimic dream sequences and serene accommodations lit to lull the guest to sleep”.

The brand’s has properties in New York, Florida, Cockin and Bangkok, but its first Middle East property in Dubai will include 300 guest rooms and 420 branded hotel apartments, six restaurants and lounges, a nightclub that will occupy the 101st floor, two pools and two spas and two gymnasiums with squash courts.

“This is the first multi-use hotel and hotel apartments tower for Sheffield Holdings, and I am proud to say that we have taken the step to make it one of the biggest, most ground breaking projects of hospitality in the region,” said chairman of Sheffield Holdings, Abu Ali Shroff.

According to official Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) records, the tower will be 432m when complete and will be the second tallest building in Dubai, after the 828m tall Burj Khalifa. Overall, the CTBUH ranked it the 50 tallest tower built or under construction in the world at present.

Started in 2007, the super-tall tower in Dubai Marina was placed on hold in 2010, but work is due to be finished in April 2014 and on completion the tower will have 516 apartments and 324 hotel rooms.

Started in 2011, the Diamond Tower – located on Jeddah’s cornice – will be the second tallest building in Saudi Arabia, and one of the most unique, with its twisting shape that leads to a diamond-shaped top.

385m, 1263ft – 77 floors – due to be completed 2014
The tower will be among the tallest buildings in the world. Providing an anchor for the new King Abdullah Financial District.

4. World Trade Center, Abu Dhabi – The Residences

The residential tower is surrounded by the retail, business and entertainment of World Trade Center Abu Dhabi, the tower overlooks the Arabian Gulf and Abu Dhabi’s Corniche.

370m, 1214ft – 72 floors – due to be completed 2015
Situated within one of the most prestigious square kilometres of real estate in the world, The Address The BLVD, will overlook the Burj Khalifa, Burj Lake, The Dubai Fountain and The Dubai Mall.

6. Ahmed Abdul Rahim Al Attar Tower, Dubai
342m, 1122ft – 76 floors – due to be completed 2014
The skyscraper is under construction along Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road.

ADNOC’s new Headquarters building is to be a landmark in Abu Dhabi.

8. DAMAC Residenze, Dubai
335m, 1099ft – 86 floors – due to be completed 2016
DAMAC Heights is under construction in Dubai Marina. The building will overlook the Palm Jumeirah. When completed in 2016, DAMAC Heights will become one of the tallest buildings in Dubai and the 4th-tallest residential building in the world, surpassed only by Pentominium, World One, and Marina 101.

9. Gate of Kuwait Tower, Kuwait City
330m, 1083ft – 80-84 floors – due to be completed 2015
Gate of Kuwait is planned to be used as a five-star hotel, office space, multi-floor car park, convention centre and high-end retail space.

10. The Skyscraper, Dubai
330m, 1083ft – 66 floors
The Skyscraper is a building under construction in Business Bay, Dubai.

11. Al Yaqoub Tower, Dubai
328m, 1076ft – 69 floors – due to be complete 2013
The Al Yaqoub Tower skyscraper being built along Sheikh Zayed Road near to Dubai International Financial Centre will be a Hotel-Residential tower. It does, the building will become the 2nd- tallest clock tower in the world behind Abraj Al Bait Clock Tower in Mecca.

12. Lamar Tower 1, Jeddah
322m, 1056ft, 70 floors – due to be completed 2015
Lamar Towers are a pair of skyscrapers currently under construction in the city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Located on Jeddah Corniche, Tower 1 will be 350m (1,150 ft) tall with 72 floors above ground. Construction began in 2008 and, when completed later this year, Tower 1 will be the tallest building in Jeddah.

13. Burj Rafal, Riyadh
308m, 1010ft – 70 floors – due to be completed 2014
The Burj Rafal will be the tallest residential tower in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia when it completes in September.

14. KAFD World Trade Center, Riyadh
303m, 994ft – 67 floors – due to be completed 2014

15. Dubai Pearl Tower, Dubai
300m, 984ft – 73 floors – due to be completed 2016
Dubai Pearl is a 73-storey, 300 m (984 ft), tall residential skyscraper under construction along Al Sufouh Road in Dubai. The $6bn project consists of 4 mixed-use towers connected together at the base, and by a sky bridge at the top. Once completed Dubai Pearl will accommodate 9,000 residents and its commercial sector will employ 12,000 people.

16. NBK Tower, Kuwait City
300m, 984ft – 70 floors – due to be completed 2016
The tower is being built for National Bank of Kuwait as its new headquarters.

18. D1 Tower, Dubai
284m, 932ft – 80 floors – due to be completed 2013)
D1 (Dubai Number One) is tall residential skyscraper that will feature skyrise lounge, private cinema, indoor pool, gymnasium and concierge services.

19. City of Lights C1 Tower, Abu Dhabi
282m, 926ft – 62 floors – due to be completed 2014
The C1 Tower is the tallest being built on the 13-tower City of Lights project at Al Reem Island.

20. Al Hekma Tower, Dubai
282m 925ft – 64 floors – due to be completed 2014
